For professionals

The municipality of Alkmaar and MEE & de Wering recognize the problems of young homosexual, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in multicultural Alkmaar, as well as the need for information and meetings for this group.

After Veilige Haven Amsterdam was founded in 2007 by Schorer and the COC, Alkmaar now has a Veilige Haven as well.

Veilige Haven Alkmaar is a project of MEE & de Wering, in cooperation with the municipality of Alkmaar. MEE & de Wering is a not-for-profit social work organization that tries to help a versatile group of people. Only higher education schooled experts work for us. For more information, visit www.meewering.nl

Our social workers are specifically trained to support the LHBTI community in Alkmaar. We maintain a low threshold and we focus on finding solutions. We are also happy to advice other professionals and volunteers that work with the LHBTI community. So that you can continue supporting the LHBTI community.

You can register your client directly with us for support or you can have us take over your client. You can send an email to veiligehavenalkmaar@meewering.nl or call 088 - 0075 000 from Monday to Friday between 09:00 and 12:00 hours. When calling the general number, you can ask for the special-task employee LHBTI.
